
Angel Adedokun is a powerhouse performer, bilingual vocalist, songwriter, and dancer. Born in the midwest, she grew up listening to artists such as Prince, Selena Quintanilla, Sade, and Celia Cruz. At age 14, singing in English and Spanish, she joined a local Indiana Folklórico' dance group and sang before their shows under the guidance of Pamela Valdes. At age 17 Angel joined and worked with the Latin company MundoBeat Entertainment (Grupo Tumbao, Trio Con Paz, Almagama) and was featured as lead singer of Indianapolis Salsa band Grupo Bembe in Indianapolis, IN. under the name, Angelita. During this time, Angel studied the Music Legends of Latin Music and performed the songs of Hector Lavoe, Celia Cruz, La Lupe, Juan Luis Guerra, Joe Arroyo, El Gran Combo, and many more.
As a bilingual, multi-genre artist known for her ethereal vocals and raw, confessional songwriting, Angel blends rock, jazz, salsa, cumbia, pop, soul, and funk. Her unique and sultry sound captivates audiences, aiming to tell the truth and bring people together through her art. Performances include Yoshi’s in Oakland, BottleRock in Napa Valley, and Joshua Tree.
In 2015, Angel moved from Indianapolis to California and has since jumped into musical theatre, teaching, and choreography. Her stage credits include Cinderella ( Cinderella) with African American Shakespeare Company, Helene in Natasha, Pierre, and The Great Comet of 1812, Hairspray (Lil Inez) with Footlite Musicals, SILENCE! The Musical (Ardelia Mapp), Jesus Christ Superstar (Peter, Dance Captain) with Ray of Light Theatre, Avenue Q ( Gary Coleman) with NCTC, She Persisted (Ruby Bridges), and A Kid’s Play About Racism (Delight) with Bay Area Children’s Theatre.
With a dance background in Salsa, Plena, Bhangra, and Hip Hop, Angel has choreographed Hedwig and the Angry Inch and Caroline or Change with Ray of Light Theatre, and has served as choreographer for Peaches Christ Productions.
As an educator, she uses these talents to bring out the unique and artistic gifts of her students. She conducts musical workshops with Bay Area Children’s Theatre, serves as Casting Manager at Ray of Light Theatre, Director at Tomorrow Youth Repertory, performer at Bay Area Children’s Theatre, and Education Director/ co-founder for Yeah, Art! In Oakland, CA.
Angel’s debut EP, Love Always, Angel was released in 2020. She is currently working on music for her next album, Love Letters to a Black Seed. Angel’s music mission is to introduce people to new forms of music, create a safe space to heal, love, and commune through music.
